Sometimes you step away just to come back with so much more to give.
Challenge Accepted:
Accepted a full time offer at my graphic design job
Joined an adult marching band and came back to colorguard after 25 years
Did a workshop on the Parasympathetic System at the Communities of Color Coalition’s 11th Annual North Puget Sound Conference on Race
Returned to competition after a 3 year hiatus at the Westshore Warehouse Open (10’ 16kg Long Cycle), and achieved CMS (Candidate of Master of Sport) with 81 reps (PR)
Kept it simple, more outdoor time with less effort to enjoy slowing down
The Ups
Long rides on Moneypenny solo and with good friends
Watching more women's sports live
Learned to do more solo adventuring, which always felt very scary to me
The Downs
Getting Covid for the second time at the beginning of the year
The passing of my uncle due to colon cancer
Stepping away from a community that no longer felt right for me (but finding a new, fulfilling one)

2025: Moving Forward
What’s Working?
Simplifying work (just 2 jobs instead of 4 like last year!) for better life balance and being more present for my partner
Holding a volunteer position to be more intentional about giving back to my community
Letting go even when it feels hard, but acknowledging what no longer serves me
What is Not Working?
Not standing up for myself in the moment and letting the moment pass
Letting my movement practices be lead by motivation vs. consistency
Retail therapy, seriously
How Can I Fix What’s Not Working?
Being more confident and prioritizing what I value
Scheduling time to move vs. when I can get it in or feeling motivated
Coming back to creative outlets instead of spending money to relieve stress/find temporary joy
